On Handarbetets vänner in Stockholm we are learning more about some knitting tradtions in Sweden. The first weekend we have had Skåne .We used needles 1,25mm and white lamb wool yarn. The patterns we are using are from a special sort of "cardigan".
Here you find pictures of many different ones.Enjoy.
Next meeting is October 15 and 16 and I hope I can decide if it's going to be mittens or wristwarmers.I have also some more homework I can do.It would be nice knit and decorate something inspired by the traditons from the "spedetröja"
We have 5 weekends more .Next time it's going to be Gotland and Binge

The socks are made in a yarn I have got from my swap friend,a yarn from Deborah Norville collection totally new for me.It's 50% wool,25%Bamboo and 25%Nylon but very easy to knit with. It's going to be very interesting to have them,I think they are not anything for the winter.
I wish you all a nice time

Now I'm retired and as a help on the way into a new life I'v got a lot a flowers and many kind words.During the Midsummer we also have had a lot of wild flowers. My sister had picked so many lovely flowers. So fresh and so full of colours.
The last picture shows wonderful gifts on my birthday in May from M.Than you so so much. Hopefully I'm also going to do more quilted things when I'm not working any more.I have collected fabrics with flowers on .The Scissor "bag" with a flower on makes me so happy. And the small doily in soft colours.Yes flowers are going to be a theme for some of my handmade crafts.
I wish you all a nice new week.

2 blocks made by black fabric, flowers from a Kaffe Fassett fabric as an application and french knots for a friend in Norway
These blocks are made for a swap friend on her birthday. It was a lovely sewing time with embroidery and handmade application of flowers.Yes it took time but I'm so satisfied with the result. The flowers are a has not, in reality ,so dark colours. Hopefully this way of doing blocks is something I want to do more times.
Wish you a creative Saturday

2 hearts on different fabrics and with different colors.Märta-Stina was a very good knitter and she has inspired many people doing the same patterns or doing their version of the patterns. The heart above is a designed version.Kerstin Hedvall has done this pattern for a tablecloth.I wanted to do one square in black and one in the colors Kerstin Hedvall used
The square on the left is made in red 349 and in green 3787 on aida 14 / 1".I love it and it would be nice to do a little tablecloth,40cm x40cm, in this aida.It reminds me of Christmas,a holiday I really love.
Still I'm not ready with the course about black work.I used linen fabric , 21/ 1",and DMC 310.I think this heart in black would be nicer in thinner linen as I want to do it as a little decoration on some clothes.
Wish you a nice new month .

In Sweden we call it "vävsöm"
Vävsöm /kogin in embroidery seems to have types of patterns you also can find on fabrics made in a loom
Often in Sweden you find they have been using wool thread on embroideries. In Japan it seems to be more often done with cotton threads
This little "purse" for small sewing items is made of cotton fabrics, applications and a type of lace.wonderful ,perfect work made with love.As you can understand these 2 friends are doing the most wonderful things and we also have a lot to learn from each other and to be inspired of.
I'm going to do blocks with applications during April, for example blocks for a birthday gift.
"Vävsöm" I'm going to do later this spring/summer.
First of all I had to do a little heart in weaving seam/kogin,a heart filled with love to my friends.Thank you so so much.

Happy Easter all my friends
I'm going to have e week free from work and I really long for that.We have snow and not so cold.It seems to be a perfect time for outdoor activities and for handicraft.
We have had a Easter swap in a Ravelry group and my friend sent me a big big box filled with yarn, tea sweets and different small itens. The egg was filled with lovely chocolate, yes was but I could not resist taking some so now I only have 2 in it.

I'm so blessed having friends who during this year have been giving me gifts. The small teddy bears are from a dear friend in Japan. The third little one is something I bought some years ago. When we are using Skype our little grandchild he makes a big smile looking a these small friends. So happy.
I have been a member of a swap on Ravelry too and this is what my friend sent me.2 skeins of wool yarn from Ullcentrum in a very good quality, a knitting pattern for mittens,Lotus Mittens. And red tea.Wow this is so wonderful.Thank you S.
Next week I have holidays and I'm going to do some knitting and embroidery but I'm also going to do some stick walking and other winter sports. And yes I'm going to write some letters to friends. This morning we have - 14C and it seems to come more snow too.Small snow flings are falling down on our snowy landscape in the north of Sweden

We were visiting Jokkmokk market, three days once a year on the first weekend in February. There you can find a lot of handicraft and also interesting food to eat, both local and food from some parts of the world.
The exibition I really became totally overwhelmed of was with about 100 mittens from Jokkmokk and Jukkasjärvi on Ajtte.
As you can see many mittens are made in bright colours. Some of them are made as a gift, for example as a gift to your boyfriend and so one.We also could see many visiters using very beautiful mittens in bright colours.I also saw a man having mittens in white with patterns in red and white.More white I think,a variation of these mittens
Somewhere I have seen them and maybe they are more common in the north of Norway. On the exhibition we also could find mittens made in different colours of wool, natural colours.I bought yarn in two qualities,100% wool 50g 150 meters and 100% wool 50g 225 meter.
Today lapplanders are celebrating their national day.Send all who are celebrating a nice and friendly day.
Wish you all a nice holiday.

During some months on the new year I'm going to learn more about Blackwork.I'm following a course on distance ,made by Pian Bates, and there are different things to work with
The first thing to work with is to choose a pattern from her choice and do something inspired of it.The longer one is made of 2 patterns with the difference I made some cross stitches here and there and put the two ones in a row.Very nice times and yes it took some houres to do. The little square is an example of how the little "star" is in different yarns, still black yarns in linen, cotton or wool yarns.I wish I had black silk yarn but that´s possible later on in the course when I also use thinner linen fabrics.
The next embroidery is to be an interpretation och a collage of pieces from a newspaper.
I wish you all a lovely time.

We live under the same sky but we live under so different circumstances. It's a long time until we can say we have peace on the earth and that all the children can start a new day filled with hope.
Wish you all a nice Christmas time/a time filled with hope whereever you are.
Thank you all who are writing comments, emails and letters/cards to me.
