I wish you a lovely new day

It's a sunny morning and soon I'm going to work.As you can see there are more flowers now and in the sunshine they are so so beautiful. On Sunday we had the Mother's day and I could do some granny squares for a bag.The granny squares are so lovely to do.The coloured yarns I have used are the ones who were left after the weaving "bed covers" in a weaving group.I have used "lefts" with the lenght of about 20". I had the happiness to have the possibility to buy some of them.

During the week I'm also doing a ring cushion but it's going to be a top secret until July 24 when my son and his girlfriend are going to be married in our church. What i can say the flowers above give me a lot of inspiration. We are so happy for that and it's a great honour for me to do one.
Well now it's time to go to work.
Why not do some granny squares you to?!?!

I wish you a nice day

A big big thank you for the RAK and for the coming summertime

It's early morning and it's raining -I couldn't resist taking of photo from my room and I really love this season with the flowers and the green garden,a short time every year but a really inspiring time.Nearly no darkness.

I'm so blessed as I have got a RAK ,a very big RAK,from a knitting friend in UK.
There are colours in thin and a little thicker quality for lace knitting.
Wool/Casmere,Silk/Wool/Cashmere nd Sil/BabyCamel and Cashmere. So beautiful colours in my favourites and the qualities so so kind for the skin.I hope I can be knitting shawls for many occasions and in different lace patterns. What a summer!

Hand dyed fabrics

The colour we used was blue/green and a little red.

The colour is red and it seems as it was a candy red.

A blue/green/red variation.

The last workshop we dyed some more fabrics to use for quilting. We have sunny warm days just now so the fabrics was ready to use nearly at once.I love the colours and the patterns they give. What a nice day dying, crochet, sewing and having many nice chats.

Knitting and quilting May 14

I have been so blessed and I got 2 skeins of Kashmir/Alpacka in a give away at www.staketshantverk.com
and I choosed the colour plum.
The owner of the online shop has a very nice blog

http://eva-i-staket.blogspot.com/

where you can follow her in her development in knitting and crochet.
As the yarn is dark I tried to do a crochet the shawl but I didn´t feel so happy for that so I decided to knit a favourite one.I started with 4 stitches and knitted 2 rows and then I started to increase on the side every 2 rows.It gives a comfortable shawl. The yarn is so so lovely, warm and soft.I love this yarn.Thank you so much Eva.

On a swedish blog I found a link to a lovely blog
http://bearspatch.blogspot.com/
So much to be inspired of.I found a sew along at the theme tea and I decided to do something about tea as I'm really very fond of it.I had some fabrics with tea cups/coffe cups so I took one pattern and put it on a piece of my hand dyed fabric.I'm going to do some stitches hear and there.

Log cabin - a workshop

The blocks I made during the workshop in log cabin and as you see there are many different "patterns" you can get only playing with the colours and the position and length of the stripes.A good idea is to have many stripes in many fabrics and colours before you start sewing.

You can do trees or other things in log cabin too.

Spring sewing party-what I'm working with.

I love Amish patterns and I found a nice idea on a blog
http://lazygallibamish2010.blogspot.com/
and that was to do your own version of something Amish.A liberated Amish. The batik fabrics are the ones I have done during the two last course weekends. They are hand dyed and they are so nice to work with.
The "quilt" is on a the snow.We have got even more snow today but it's warmer now, about -9C instead of -29C we had yesterday morning.A perfect day for sewing.
Now it's time for dinner.

The challenge we got.Do something of the material.

We had a lot of buttons to use and we could fabricate the fabric I didn't like at all.Blue and brown in a "sad" combination. We got some more very non coloured things.Lovely to choose more white to hide what you don't like and to get the blue colours more clear. We also could hand dye things to.Beads and some other decorations made the bag as I wanted to have it.What a lovely day.

Happy Valentine 2010 to all of you.

With this mini quilt I wish you a wonderful day.I made it for a swap and it's done in cotton-linen with wool circles and embroidery in DMC pearl cotton and the red little heart is made in thin cotton yarn. The winter season with the bright snow and often a lovely sunshine give a lot of inspiration. The heart symbol is very common and I only wanted to do a "shy" one that only gives you a little hint.

Some glimpses of January 2010

I send you all my best wishes for 2010 to be a creative and peaceful year.

A little pouch made by fabrics with silk paint and machine stitching.A sweet little thing not easy to get a good picture of.

We made fabric bowls on the workshop lasr weekend and this is my first one.So much joy we had so I hope we can do it more and maybe do it even more artistic.

I go on workshops in different textile technics,in textile art.Dying fabrics is someting we loved to do the first work shop weekend this year.
We had a high thinner bowl we put full of fabrics and then we put batik colours on.Very exciting to see what pattern the fabric had after about 20 minutes.Somebody told me this is a special japaneese technic. What do you know about it?

An embroidery kit and a patternbook. So nice little heart saying something about Japan and patter book has a lot of sweet cross stitch pattern I really love to do during the year 2010

I love to get letters with different stamps on and often I can learn something about the country or the art or handicraft or..

Soon the first month of 2010 and I wanted to give you some glimpses.First of all my friend M in USA sent a lovely little package to me and it came a snowy day and the card brightened up the day so much.I know she has had her birthday in the middle of Jamuary.A delayed Happy birthday dear M.
And then the lovely workshops we had .
