A new day in July

Early morning and a lovely sunshine.The vacation goes on with time for embroidery,the best way of relaxing and finding the inner calmness.This little embroidery is going to be a decoration for our home in December.The pattern is from "Brodera på linne" by Monica Halléen,a book about swedish traditions in embroidery,mostly in cross stitch.I made it in linen fabric,10 threads per centimeter.In the book they recommended 12 threads per centimeter but I found it easier to do the embroidery on 10 threads.Monica Hallén also hassome lovely patterns in blackwork but about that another day. The summer is here

Today we celebrate the national day and the sun is shining and the green garden with some flowers here and there make the day so relaxing.Many birds are singing and we are happy to live near a little forest.Our balcone is very near a part of the forest.Some houres I have been sitting on the balcony knitting and enjoying the day.A perfect day after meny days of work. A new year in my life

A new year in my life started when we had a lot to do at work.Friends and family made my birthday so nice and inspirating.Flowers from the man i my life,my sister and from my friends at work and a lovely wreath made especially for me from M's wife.So so wonderful.Most of them still are so lovely.I'v got a lot of gifts from friends in Denmark,Norway,Finland,Sweden,Japan and USA.Those lovely gifts are handmade,or fabrics,patterns or yarn.In 3 weeks we have summer holidays and I'm going to use some gifts foor quilting,knitting or embroidery. Today I started a new pair of socks in a thin yarn.The needles are in wood and they are doing the knitting so lovely.Today I have made 3 1/2 pair of socks,the second black sock is not ready.Hopefully this is not going to be the second sock syndrome. A new month

Early morning and a sunny day.We have a Sunday today and I really enjoy it.Hopefully I'm going for a walk in the sunshine.The birds are singing and giving us hope of a new spring and summer.As you can see we still have snow and the river is covered by ice.-1,5 C at 07.30.Only one sock was made in the end of April.Maybee I need more colours now.I'm a little but fed up with the darkness.But before I have to do the second sock.A new month is here and we only have a few houres of darkness.What a happiness. Embroidery in springtime

During a week we have had a embroidery mystery in a group on facebook.25 squares 3 cm x 3 cm and a sqare 30 x 30 cm to put them on in any pattern and 30cm x 30cm without anything.5 days with different instructions about what the 5 squares are going to be inspired of.In the end this is going to be a draw string bag or a purse or...More about that in a week. Happy Easter to you

Happy Easter to you.We have had holidays for a week and it has been so nice to have time to choose what you want to do.Still we have snow and the sun has been shining a lot.We have many houres of daylight and it's so wonderful after a long winter.Until September I'm trying to knit 8 psir of socks.Mostly I'm going to use simple patterns as I'm using them nearly every day and that you can only see very little of them.Just now I'm doing the third pair. Wish you all a Happy Easter and a lovely Spring.

working with wool fabrics

The pincushion is made by wool fabrics and embroidery with different threads and stitches.It's made for a swap friend,Sandra, and we both have flowers as interest.I tried to find out the colour scale she has when she makes cross stitch.So nice to do. I have also been participating in a workshop ,wool embroidery,and there we were playing with forms,colours and stitches.The circles on the needlecase are done by scraps and on them I made french knots.The scraps was a little bit "ugly" but with the embroidery it's really nice.The red item is also made by a mixture of sraps and a fine wool fabric and some stithes.Still I don't know what to use it for.as I still work full time I 'm very happy I have had time to do these items in wool.A very nice feeling to work with wool fabrics.

A very special day

We have had a very special Friday at work with many exhibitions of different companies in our village where they showed what they are working with and the students also could learn more about different types of work we have in our region.Maybe somebody found a work or an idea what to study.We also had guests talking about their lives and what they are working with and how they reached their goals.We all have to believe in our ideas and we have to take some chances too.Maybe you can find the way to your goal or find another one. It was early morning when I came to my work and we could see snow art and fires giving us positive signals.Very very nice and so wellcome.And the day was very inspiring in many ways.Some of our art students had made dresses,maybe not so wearable ,made by materials from the nature or from the "stash" on the way to the dump yard.From these you are getting ideas foe a wearable dress for a party.Well maybe not a winterparty.Yesterday we had - 30C outside but maybe for a summer party dress for somone.They also had an exhibition of paintings and other types of art. Today it's Friday and I have been knitting on the blanket for charity and having a cup of tea.It's a tea I'v got from a dear friend and it reminds me of the Christmas time. Last Sunday we said goodbuy to the Christmas and now we are looking forward more daylight and sunshine.But we only have 11 months to the Christmas 2014.Maybe the right time to start making some gifts now?What about you?For this year I did only half of the things I eas going to do.

A Valentine heart in cross stitch

It's the first cross stich for 2014.I felt so happy to do this for a Valentine swap friend .It's done on linen fabric with DMC (cotton) 814,2 strands.This colour is one of my favourites.The pattern is something I have found on internet for some years ago and I have no link to it. While I was participating in the embroidery course I had no time for just stitchin a little item but now I have.Hopefully I can do one little item during January. We have very cold days just now ,about - 29 C so it's so perfect sitting inside doing some embroidery or knitting some rows on the white blanket,now with 2 rows of blue every 20 rows. A blanket for charity

We have - 14C and the daylight is back for some houres every day and are really happy for that.Just now we are knitting blankets for charity. http://www.sandnesgarn.no/ Our local yarn shop has got some kits from Sandnesgarn for us so we are going to knit blankets for small children living somewhere in Ethiopia.My kit has white as the main colour and I'm going tohave some rows of blue on the second 67,5 cm of it.And a blue row around.my goal is to to something for charity every year.Later I'm going to do something for a swedish organisation,Hjälpstickan. A pair of socks in my favourite colours just now

The first pair of socks for 2014.The colours brighten up a cloudy day.They are made in 100% wool,Lima.Hopefully in a week have clear and colder days so we get rid of these rainy days.I 'm longing for long walks in a beautiful winter landscape.Until then I maybee have time to start a new pair,knitted in the yarn I got as a Christmas present.They are going to be perfect socks for a lovely spring day. Visiting Luleå

The visit in Luleå started with a lunch.The soup was made by carrots,lenses,bullion,small pieces of smoked salmon and cream.We got leaven bread with cheese and after that tea or coffe and a biscuit.I also hade a meeting with my sister and her daughter.The musum in Luleå had an exhibion with mittens from the north of Sweden.The ones in bright colours are/were patterns common in the area where the lapplanders are living.Some of the other mittens are designed by Solveig Larsson,f ex the ones with white cuff and light blue and white patterns and the grey and white ones. My visit ended with a walk passing the big park where they have an installation with the Santa family.I really miss the ice sculptures there but we have had so warm beginning of our winter.

Friends who love snail mail

A letter written by hand is worth very much for me and many friends.I have got a notebook,2 lovely pencils ,ink ones,and some papers to write the message on.One of my penfriends sent me also this lovely potholder with a lovely star made in Tilda fabrics.Soon we have a new year and we hopefully have time to write letters and cards to friends and family.Every time there are real letters in our postbox they are doing the day so special. I'm wishing you a nice day.Maybe you write a card or a letter too.

Gifts for a knitter from a knitter

We just now have a knitting café on Facebook so and I have been drinking the the tea Carol,a nice japaneese tea.A dear friend has been sending me a perfect package with a thin circle needle ,size 2,2 skeins of soft sockyarn and of course some teabags.What else do you need a Sunday evening?Not much.Hopefully we are getting more time for handicraft during the first days of 2014.Still I have some days off.And hopefully we are getting a little bit colder and some more snow.

Gifts related to Christmas from family and friends

In the big box we have got "cakes" from our son with wife in Japan and the Christmas sock is from a penfriend in Japan.The beautuful fabrics are from a swap friend in Sweden.As always the Christmas eve goes so fast and you have not so much time to enjoy everything.Today,the Christmas day,is calm day filled with good music and also filled with time for the family.The younger son and his girlfriend are doing a lovely dinner for us.My husband and I we celebrate we have been married 34 years.So fast the time has gone.

In the middle of November

The sun dawn over the river of Kalix was so beautiful and I could take a relaxing walk along a short part of it.It's often a time for thoughts and inspiration.Every day it's a new experience.I love it. A dear friend of mine,M,sent me this little pouch in soft colours,colours we have in the landscape in the autumn/early winter time.But absolutely no flowers.She knows I love flowers and she made this gift for me.Thank you so so much.In late May/June the flowers are coming back. On the needles a knitting with 1 thread white wool on 5mm.

November

It has been a long time without blogging but now I hope I'm going to be here once a week. First of all the time goes so fast and soon we have Christmas.The first little decoration I have made is a crochet one.I also made a circle of french knots in gold around the top.http://greedyforcolour.blogspot.com.br/2011/12/christmas-bauble-tutorial.html Very fast but so nice to do.As always I try to knit items as socks and shawls for the winter period and for gifts to family and friends.To have time to knit some rows in the morning gives a hope of socks until the end of the year 2013 :) Just now I'm working on a cushion I have to do as an exam project for the "Embroidery course".I use japaneese fabrics on linen fabric and I'm doing embroidery of some kind between the different parts and also some on the japaneese fabric.

New socks

http://www.sticka.org/_data/documents/monster/socka.pdf It's a rainy Monday morning and I started knitting a new pair of socks in jeanns blue colour of Fabel from Garnstudio.The autumn with colder days makes the knitting of socks very good.As I need socks in darker colour it's hard to knit them in the evening so every morning is worth gold.As you can se I have done a change so my cuff starts with 2 of each.Well it was not meant to be that but I was in a hurry starting them so I made wrong but this is also a nice cuff.The lace pattern is called false lace and this is as it's on the pattern.
